Originally enlisted in Co. A, 53rd TN Inf (CSA). Captured Athens, AL, 11 Dec 1863; POW at Rock Island IL. Took the oath and served till Nov 1865. I possess his discharge (original document - not a copy) from the Union Army. He and his widow were granted a disability pension off-and-on till their deaths.
